The Sullivan High School Performing Arts Theater received a generous donation on Wed., Mar. 26, in memory of former principal, Jim McDonald.
Members of the Class of 1982, Bank of Sullivan, Executive Wood Products and Lightspeed Engraving presented a Presidential Podium to the theater, which now graces the main stage.
Members of the Class of 1982 wanted to make a donation to the school in memory of their late principal, Jim McDonald. When the need arose at the theater to have a podium, the group decided this podium would be a perfect way to honor McDonald.
The group was assisted in their donation by the Bank of Sullivan and Executive Wood Products, Sullivan, manufacturer of the Presidential Podium, reduced the price of the unit to help the group complete their donation. Lightspeed Engraving donated laser engraving services to create a Sullivan Eagle on the front of the podium.
“It’s beautiful and an honor to have such a wonderful podium of this quality in the theater,” said Paige Russell, theater director. “This is just another example of how giving and supportive our community is. This podium is a perfect match for our wonderful facility.”
Jennifer Schmidt, member of the Class of 1982, stated that the class really wanted to donate something to the school that was a needed item and the group felt that there was a great need for a podium in the theater.
The podium was manufactured in Sullivan by Executive Wood Products, the largest producer of lecterns and podiums in the United States, according to business owner, Paul Alexander.
