Pizza Hut, Sullivan High School and the Independent News are proud to recognize senior Luke Strauser and junior Jorden Pingleton as this week’s selections for our Student Athlete of the Week award.
Luke, a member of the varsity golf team, is the son of Doug and Joan Strauser. His plans include attending the University of Missouri in Columbia and majoring in business.
When asked what his most memorable high school activity was, Luke responded, “Starting and playing basketball in the Borgia Turkey Tourney was a big thrill for me. I grew up going to the tournament and always dreamed of playing in it.”
Jorden, a member of the girls varsity soccer team, is the daughter of Staci Bryant and Rex Pingleton. Although she is only a junior, Jorden already knows that, after graduation, she would like to attend Missouri State University in Springfield and to someday become a nurse practitioner.
When asked what she remembers most about participating as a Sullivan Eagle, Jorden replied, “Playing for the district championship in soccer last year was a lot of fun, even though we lost.”
The weekly Pizza Hut award is presented to Sullivan High School students on the basis of academic performance, athletic participation and citizenship.
Shown with Luke and Jorden is Sullivan High School asst. principal /athletic director, Jeff Hermann.
