Former Sullivan boys head basketball coach, Steve Boeh, and his Bowling Green Bobcats recently completed what appeared to be an almost Cinderella season. The Bobcats, who spent most of the season as the number one ranked Class 3 team in the state of Missouri, finished their season with an overall record of 27-1.
After winning their district with ease, Bowling Green was faced with playing Lutheran North, a surprise district champion who had upset St. Louis area power, Cardinal Ritter. Lutheran North continued their magical run by defeating the Bobcats in state sectional play, 59-52.
Bowling Green had advanced to the state finals in 2007; however, the head coaching position became vacant after several members of the Bowling Green staff and administration were terminated at the end of last season. The 2007-08 season was Coach Boeh’s first in the Bowling Green school system.
Many from the area will remember Coach Boeh. In addition to Sullivan, he also had successful seasons as the head basketball coach at other area schools; including Cuba and Steelville.
