A mobile home was destroyed by fire on Friday evening at 24552 Highway A after a faulty heater caused a fire in the bathroom of the home.
Sullivan firefighters were called to the home of James Freeman at 6:01 p.m.
“We arrived on the scene at 6:07 p.m. and found the home engulfed in flames covering more than 75 percent of the home,” said Sullivan fire chief, Rich White. “There were two other mobile homes near this residence that we were able to save.”
Chief White reported that Sullivan firefighters were assisted by St. Clair and Bourbon firefighters. Crews brought the fire under control at 7:09 p.m.
The home was a total loss.
“We believe the fire began in the bathroom of the home due to a heater,” concluded White.
