First, second and third grade students at Bourbon Elementary had visitors from VFW Post 3987 last week. The Ladies Auxiliary went to twelve classrooms with special Americanism Programs.
The first graders learned more about the Pledge of Allegiance while playing “The Hat Game.” Second and third grade students competed in “The Flag Game,” as they reviewed the Code of Flag Etiquette.
About 250 students participated in the program, and each student received a ruler or pencil as a remembrance of Veterans’ Day. The VFW Post Auxiliary appreciates Principal Thompson for inviting them to visit the school and the wonderful cooperation from the secretaries and teachers was also greatly appreciated.
