Lady Eagles Fall To Indians
As if the opening contest of the season isn’t nerve- racking enough, Sullivan’s Lady Eagles soccer team had to face one of their toughest opponents of the season in Four Rivers Conference member, the Pacific Indians. Pacific won a tough game by the score of 2-0.
Although the Eagles couldn’t penetrate the Indians defense, coach Tia Lewis was anything but disappointed.
She commented, “This was a really tough exciting game. I am very happy with the way we played. Our goalkeeper, Nicole Birge, did a great job and had several big deflects. Micaela King used her speed to be a big stopper for us on defense. Britney Block is always ready to play and is the emotional leader of this team.
We know that we are going to get some scoring from Jorden Pingleton, and freshman Karli Ahrens really did an awesome job in her first varsity contest.”
It is easy to sense the excitement that Coach Lewis has for this team and for the potential that they have to succeed. Like she is in the classroom, Lewis is committed to excellence. She said, “We need to put a little more emphasis in working on our offense, but we’ll be okay.”
The next contest for the Lady Eagles will be on Mar. 29 as they travel to face Lutheran St. Charles. Their next home game will be on Mar. 31 when they play host to the St. Clair Bulldogs.
