MO Dairy Forum
The Missouri dairy industry comes together Jan. 25-26 for the ninth annual Missouri Dairy forum and trade show at the The Resort at Port Arrowhead at Lake Ozark.
The forum is sponsored by the Missouri Dairy Association (MDA), Missouri Holstein Association (MHA), Missouri Guernsey Breeders Association (MGBA), Sho-Mo Dairy Heifer Growers Association, Missouri Brown Swiss Association (MBSA), Missouri Jersey Cattle Club (MJCC) and the Missouri Dairy Growth Council.
The forum kicks off on Fri., Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m. with several timely production and marketing topics for dairy producers. Rick Short of Central Life Sciences covers “Increasing Profits by Effective Fly Control”, Mary Beth de Ondarza on “Today’s Feed Opportunities, Threats and Solutions” sponsored by Alltech, and Rick Kement of DTN will talk about “2008 Price Outlook and Marketing Tools to Capture Profit.”
Bruce Knight, under secretary, Marketing & Regulatory Programs, USDA, will be the Friday noon luncheon speaker.
The Sho-Mo Dairy Heifer Growers Association will conduct their annual meeting at 2:15 p.m., followed by MHA committee meetings at 4:30 p.m. and MGBA committee meetings at 5 p.m. Both groups will have board meetings later in the evening.
On Jan. 26, the forum resumes with concurrent sessions including the annual meetings of MGBA, MBSA, MHA and a MJCC board meeting. There is also a youth activity room and Resort indoor pool available for families attending the forum.
The Saturday Awards Luncheon features the crowning of the Missouri Holstein Princess and Little Miss along with a fun auction of items furnished by the Missouri Holstein Districts.
The forum trade show contains 15-20 allied industry exhibits with the latest developments in the dairy industry of interest to Missouri dairy producers and heifer raisers.
There is no registration fee. The forum is open to all dairy producers and allied industry. Meal reservations for the Friday and Saturday luncheons must be made by calling one of the Dairy Breed Associations or MDA at 636-519-9300 or e-mail dairystl@aol.com before Tues., Jan. 22.
