2007 Bourbon Fall Festival Winners Announced
The Bourbon Fall Festival provided a lot of family fun for those who attended last Friday and Saturday. It also provided willing participants a chance to win a trophy, money or a crown.
Those who took part in the parade were judged on their presentations. First, second and third place trophies were awarded for the following categories: organization, church and business.
In the organization category, first place went to the American Legion. Second place was awarded to the local D.A.R.E. team. The third place trophy was given to Cub Scouts Troop 429.
In the church category, first place was awarded to First Baptist Church. Second place went to the Seventh Day Adventist while Concordia Lutheran Church pulled in at third.
In the business category, the Bourbon Department of Public Safety took first place. Aim Pest Control was honored with a second place trophy and A&A Pest Control took third.
As for the money winners, there were three total. Each year the Bourbon Junior Miss contestants are asked to sell raffle tickets to give the buyer a chance at either a $50, $75 or $100 prize. This year’s winners were Keith Byrd, who received $50; Alice West, who won $75; and Randy Bremer, who won the $100 prize.
Another winner of potential money was Vaughn Bremer. Bremer was entered into a Booster raffle for $100 worth of lottery tickets. The winner was announced on Saturday of the festival and Bremer’s name was drawn from the bunch.
Last but not least, is the contestant who won the title of 2007 Bourbon Junior Miss. This year there was a poor turnout, but the Booster Club decided to give the two girls who did participate a chance for the title due to the girls’ dedication and willingness.
This year’s Bourbon Junior Miss is Sarah Byrd. Byrd was crowned on Friday night of the festival, along with Sarah Robertson, who received the title of first runner-up. Both girls were happy to have participated and had fun with the event.
Overall, the 2007 Bourbon Fall Festival was a success and the Booster Club managed to gross $4,500 worth of funds from the event. This money goes towards sponsoring local businesses and helps with supporting other Booster Club events that occur year-round.
If you or someone you know would like to become involved with the Bourbon Booster Club stop in at a meeting held the first Tuesday of each month at Bourbon City Hall.
